Anthology #4

There is another sky by Emily Dickinson
There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields -
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!

This poem really caught my eye because I like the way it basically creates another world with the same aspects as the world we live in right now. I like how I can easily picture the new world because of how detailed it is.

Anthology #3

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

I really like this poem because of the constant rhyming and the whole plot of the poem. It never shows the place where the sidewalk ends and never says what happens when you go to the place where the sidewalk ends. I really like the mystery because it keeps people wondering and thinking about it for a long time. This poem allows creativity for the reader to fill in what the place looks like.
